Captains Report – Bayviews. 3rd March
Match report from Bayviews.
Second round for 2024 at Bayviews. Started off a little disappointing with the club ignoring our request for 2 tee’s and moving us to the one tee with 29 players – needless to say, it ended up with some long waits during the round.
Firstly – I would like to welcome our 2 newest members Adam Bell and Brendan Dobson. Hope you had a great day,
Course was great, fairways were in excellent condition - greens were consistent and challenging – love that about Bayview. The esteemed employees at the Bureau did a great job of forecasting no rain – so yes we did cop a few showers and the wind whipped up during the day to make club selection difficult.
Thanks to our club sponsors Greg’s butchers and Bakers Delight for putting on a great BBQ Lunch.
This round we had to 2 grades (A Grade – up to 22) and (B Grade 23 and above).
Longest Drive 1st hole – Playing 469M with some help of a downhill slope. Paul (Macca) McIntosh wound up and belted a ball down the middle (slightly to the left side) to have the bragging rights for the day and B Grade LD (very impressive drive). Adam Bell also had a good crack to sail it down the fairway and take out the A Grade. Congratulations to both of you.
NTP 3rd –Playing 135M – A short downhill par 3, requiring precision form golfers with anything long facing a challenging chip shot back, anything slightly offline risks finding the greenside bunkers. Congratulations to Reg Young who took out the honour and takes home a couple of golf balls. Well done.
NTP 6th – 152m – with a natural amphitheatre helping (not in all cases – right Mark) collect balls on the left and long and feed them hopefully towards the hole. Deep bunkers right of the green are also in play and provide a challenging recovery shot. Andy Moule missed all the trouble and took out the hole. Well played Andy!!
NTP 11th – 180M on the card, played about 152M – the most challenging par 3, facing a steep downhill before rising sharply to a firm green heavily contoured from back to front. Mark Griffith sailed a ball just past the pin on the right side to take out the honours. Did well with a tough downhill putt to put it close and walk off with a par finish. Congratulations.
Ferrets have been added to this year’s fixture. Anything off the green on any shot with any club counts. A few this round – David Gallimore Adam Garry, Frank Universita and Glen Boyington, well done to you all.
Bayview has typically produced some good scores from our members, this round was no different with all winning and runner up scores in the 40’s.
